When you first start planning your fairy tale wedding, destinations like Italy, Greece, Ireland, or the Rocky Mountains flood your Pinterest searches. Beautiful old architecture, mature weeping trees, picturesque mountains and vast landscapes become the mood board for what your wedding day will look like. Now of course we have the rocky mountains in our backyard but because it is such a sought after location, Banff and Canmore are not only expensive but often busy for photo locations for our bride and grooms.
My name is Kait and I'm one of the team members here at Fly Free Photography! Something I love about being in the Wedding industry and a part of Fly Free is that I get to capture love at some of the most beautiful places I would have never known about in a million years and this venue for me tops the list!
Samina and Sean happened to stumble upon a rare gem, one tucked away into the countryside, just outside of Strathmore. If you're from around here - I know what your thinking.. Strathmore?? Destination wedding venue?? No way.
I'm here to tell you it's possible!
This acreage is a rare find that only hosts a handful of weddings per year for their family and friends. (& any of Fly Free's clients *wink wink*) The ceremony location features a little cove at the bottom of a hill perfect for a long entrance for the bride and groom. This long hallway allows for the tension and excitement to build and flawlessly gives off chique estate vibes.
The property is also endowed with many mature weeping trees casting lots of shade for those long summer days. Of note, a stunning private pond where a large grandfather tree casts its reflection in the pond below makes for an incredibly fairytale landscape shot. Truly this property is what a bride and groom's fairytale dreams are made of!
If I haven't sold you on this venue yet, I'm here to say.. that's not all this property has to offer. Back by the grandfather tree on the edge of the property is also the cutest little bridge that passes over the meandering stream on their property, and just a few meters away a small river divides this property and the next. The stream powers a water wheel that adds to its enchanted forest feel. If you weren't counting, this location has FOUR stunning photo ready water features!
Strathmore Wedding Venue
Last but not least, this hidden gem just outside of Strathmore has a stunning long treed driveway entrance that is beautiful for sunset! The owner has even adorned the trees with teapots which gives an Alice in Wonderland feel!
Although location isn't everything when it comes to capturing the beauty of a wedding day, our couple Samina and Sean came prepared and full of love for us to capture. These two were meant to be, and from their vows to their first dance, these two were made for each other!
Although a lot of our couples make their signage and decor, Samana and Sean really know how to do it well! From their entrance sign to the reception to their donut wall, they managed to create a beautiful fun and boho vibe that perfectly worked for their wedding day! Included in this was a few pieces from our rental gallery as well!

Although this location is a tease - as family and friend access, or being a client of Fly Free is the only way to celebrate your love a this location, there are plenty of other stunning venues on the outskirts of town! If you are looking for a beautiful sunflower garden check out this wedding venue called the Gathered or if you are looking for epic treed pathways perhaps the Coutts Centre in Nanton!
