How to choose a wedding photographer and wedding videographer
When it comes to choosing a wedding photographer and videographer for your day, you really have two options. You can choose to hire separate individuals/companies OR you can hire one company that does it all. You might think we are biased, but there are pros and cons to either option which we are going to break down below! And of course, if you are looking for a Calgary photographer and videographer team (or if you have any questions), make sure to reach out here. You can also learn more about our husband and wife team here.
Pros and Cons to Hiring Two Companies
The pro to hiring two different companies, is that you get to hire exactly who you want for your wedding day. If you love one photographer and one videographer's work or have a specific budget for each service in mind, this might feel like a better option for you.
However, if you choose to hire separate people, you run the risk of them not working well together on your wedding day. Don't get me wrong, if you hire professionals you don't need to worry about them fighting or anything crazy like that, but your wedding photo and video team works VERY closely on your wedding day. You want them to have the right energy. You don't want them to be clunky or awkward around each other - especially if you choose you have a micro wedding or elopement where the atmosphere is so intimate.
Pros and Cons to Hiring a Company that Offers Photo and Video for your Wedding
When a photo and video team work well together, it's like magic. We know because we have seen it. They move together effortlessly, each making sure each other captures the perfect shot/movement. They make jokes together to keep you comfortable. Sometimes people think we are crazy to work together all the time but honestly, there is nothing we would rather do than work on a couple's wedding day and make them feel like the most incredible people in this world.
As another positive, it's one less contract to keep track of. Hiring one company is certainly the easiest option. When you are ready to plan your timeline, you only have to coordinate with one team the moments you want to make sure aren't missed.
Now for the cons - obviously, we don't think there are any! If we had to choose (fair is fair after all), the biggest negative to hiring one photo/video team would be that you have to love both of their work, so don't hesitate to ask to see their portfolio and real weddings they have worked at together. You can read more about our own team (it's us and a few rockstar associates!) here. We love to show off their work so you know what you are getting!!
