Heli Wedding Locations
Heli wedding locations near Calgary, Banff, Canmore, and Kananaskis offer stunning mountain views. These areas of Canada provide spectacular, remote settings with untouched wilderness, snow-capped heights, and quiet valleys. It’s an ideal location for unforgettable developments high above the ground.
Some landing spots require special permits. If your elopement location requires a permit, you’ll need to reserve it at least one month in advance. Be sure you do the research around your desired helicopter wedding location to avoid any unwanted stress.
Banff National Park
The lakes and mountains of Banff National Park make an outstanding location for elopements.
It’s easy to fall in love with the natural beauty of Banff’s hot springs, canyons, glacier lakes, and mountain peaks. One of my favourite spots in the park is Mt. Charles Stewart. I love the steep grassy peaks and stunning views.
To reach many secluded spots in Banff National Park, you’ll need the help of a helicopter company. Fortunately, we have partnered with Rockies Heli in Alberta. Their extensive knowledge of the area will get you to all the best locations without hiking for several hours.
Marvel Pass
Maybe you are hoping for privacy and a great view of the water. Marvel Pass offers tranquil beauty and seclusion for your heli wedding. You’ll be rewarded with magnificent aerial views of the Canadian Rockies as you approach your destination - breathtaking memories before the big moment.
The blue waters of Cabin Lake make an amazing backdrop for a ceremony! It’s an excellent location for an elopement.
Fernie
Beautiful mountain peaks surround Fernie in the Elk Valley of British Columbia. This small historic town is full of adventure and unique mountain spaces to elope. The mountains around Fernie are an ideal location for heli elopements.
Golden
North of Fernie, you’ll find Golden. Golden is nestled between the Rocky Mountains and the Columbia Mountains, creating uniquely gorgeous views. It’s surrounded by six stunning national parks, making it an excellent place to adventure and say “I do” on a mountaintop.
Outside of Canada
There are many amazing places to have a helicopter wedding outside of Canada too. Helicopter elopements in New Zealand are an adventure! Some great locations for heli weddings in New Zealand include Earnslaw Burn, Cecil Peak, Coromandel Peak, and Mount Vanguard.

How it works
First, you’ll take a beautiful flight through the mountains via helicopter to your private elopement location with your partner. Many locations require 10 to 30 minutes of flight time, giving couples lots of time to enjoy spectacular aerial views. After you arrive, there is often time to explore the area together, making memories at your ceremony location before exchanging vows.
Helicopter elopements are ideal for couples who want a private ceremony - it’s just the two of you, your officiant, and the photographer.

We have partnered with Rockies Heli in Alberta to offer helicopter packages to meet your needs. At Fly Free, we also partner with local florists, estheticians, officiants, and bakers to help with planning elopements. We’re experienced and ready to help with planning and vendor suggestions.
When to Arrive
The time spent at a location can vary greatly. The amount of landing time and location will dictate how much time you have for the ceremony and photos. Wedding photos on a snowy peak are beautiful, but it will take more time to move around in the snow.
After choosing your location, consider if and where you want time to explore in the area before the ceremony. Once you have determined this you’ll have a great idea of what time you need to arrive.
What to Bring
Adventure elopements require essentials. Depending on your location and the season, you might need to bring different items. Makeup touch-up bags, layers to keep you warm, and water bottles are just a few essentials you may want to bring along for your heli wedding.
