Rocky Mountain Elopement

All about us - the vibe for Ashley and Ian was strong from planning to day of. It was all about them - as it should be! From choosing a gorgeous, wild, and natural location for their elopement to spending the day together this wedding is the definition of an intimate, romantic elopement. When you have the right partner at the end of the aisle the rest is gravy. Choosing to work with a photographer who is also able to recommend everything from locations to preferred vendors made this elopement a breeze to pull off.

Planning An Elopement - The Back Story

Ashley and Ian hit it off from the start after meeting through a mutual friend. Ian was easy to talk to, even bringing introvert Ashley out of her shell and the rest is history, as they say! Ian won Ashley’s heart with his helpful manner - she adores his desire to help everyone from her to family and friends. He is always making things better, shares Ashley of Ian. And true to form, Ian proposed while they took in the view at an Italian vineyard - dreamy, we know! This is a relationship truly built on mutual love and respect with a whole lot of laughter and fun memories mixed in.

The Rocky Mountain Elopement

Being together was the main priority for this wedding - an elopement only made sense! An intimate setting, nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Ashley and Ian said “I do” just the way they hoped to - together. We worked closely together to plan out the details of this elopement as Ashley and Ian had already taken care of the biggest decision - each other. With a desire to exchange vows in the mountains and our extensive experience with weddings in the mountains, we were able to suggest the perfect location for this intimate elopement. Along with that, we were thrilled to recommend other vendors from the officiant, hair and makeup artist, to the florist to pull this wedding together with low-stress and vetted wedding vendors that we have worked together with in the past.

The priorities were clear for this wedding - a day together surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the mountains and photos to capture the moments and memories. This day was a low-stress, low-drama day - the wedding of Ashley and Ian’s dreams. An Air B’n’B made for the perfect home base, allowing Ashley and Ian to prepare together and go their own ways once it was time to dress. An intimate first-look preceded this stunning elopement that truly captured the beauty of nature and the tender nature of Ashley and Ian’s love for one another. After the ceremony they celebrated with a champagne-pop and a homemade picnic from a local German bakery the Air Bnb is in partnership with. From there we took to the mountains for photos of just the two of them! I love it when couples are willing to go slightly out of their comfort zone to get epic wedding photos. For these two, that meant saying private vows down by a creek and then taking off their shoes to get a little wet in a nearby lake. All in all, it was worth it for the moments and memories.

The After Glow

Better than us telling you - we will let Ashley and Ian speak for themselves on the experience.

Here is what Ashley had to say:

“Krystal from fly free photography was absolutely wonderful to work with. You can tell she loves what she does and she is super passionate about it. She did the photography for my wedding and made me and my husband feel absolutely comfortable in front of the camera and got some beautiful shots. I am not from the province and yet the day turned out absolutely perfect for my elopement. She was more then a photographer. She was a planner who helped with every detail, found amazing vendors, and ensured there was no hiccups. My family was late and Krystal took it upon herself to even help me put on my dress so I wouldn't be stressed out. I really cannot say enough kind things about her and the absolutely amazing work she does. If you have any special occasion you want photographed, I would highly recommend her and her team a million times over. She found all the right locations for us, was super responsive, and an absolute pleasure to work with. Do yourself a favour and book with her and her team. You will not regret it.”

And Ian had this to say:

“Krystal from fly free photography was amazing to work with. Trying to plan an elopement from out of province seemed like it was going to be a huge task but she made it so easy. She made a whole timeline for us, scoped out a bunch of different areas, and even had coordinated with a ranch to have our ceremony on site. She also had vendors for my wife's flowers. She made everything stress free and convenient for us. We had the best day shooting with her! Do not hesitate if you are looking for a wedding photographer. She is the best of the best. You won't regret it.”
