Ellie and Dave were one of those incredibly special couples that you just feel grateful to be in the same space with! Seriously, I am forever grateful for the amount of absolutely amazing clients that enter the Fly Free photography family. We love each and every one of you! Today, we get to share not only a gorgeous wedding couple but also one of our favorite elopement locations in the Rocky Mountains - Moraine Lake! If you are looking for an absolutely breathtaking location to exchange vows or take wedding photos, keep reading!
Taking Wedding Couple Photos Before the Wedding
When Ellie and Dave reached out about their Calgary wedding date, we were fully booked. It broke our hearts that we weren't able to be there, but thankfully we were available to take their wedding couple portraits, which they wanted done before their actual wedding date. A little unique, but we LOVED it. Ellie's family is in Taiwan and so they wanted to take advantage of Moraine Lake to showcase the gorgeous Canadian landscape to share with her family and friends back home! Ellie has the absolute sweetest laugh and I just love how it came through in the photos.
Sunrise Wedding Photos at Moraine Lake
As a wedding photographer, I always love to shoot right at sunrise when the lighting is less harsh and gives a natural glow to the photos. Moraine Lake is not a super long hike from the parking lot, which makes it a perfect location for shoots like this (although make sure you are working with an experienced photographer who can act as a guide because the road is often closed and it can be tricky to find the best spots!). It was smoky in the mountains from the BC wildfires, but the smoke against the mountain honestly made the backdrop look like a painting. When the sun started shining in full force, we got to see Moraine Lake in all its glory. These turquoise blue waters are almost unbelievable and if you haven't been yet, we highly recommend booking an adventure session for your next photoshoot!
PS: The bouquet and boutonniere are actually created with faux flowers and are available to rent for ANY photoshoot! Just ask us when you book your session! We have three different color options available.
Using your Wedding Dress Over & Over Again
Listen, we completely reject the idea of wearing your wedding dress once. You can consider a separate wedding couple portraits session like this one, a bridal photoshoot, or even a 'trash the dress' shoot. We are open to almost anything and our favorite couples even book us annually for family photos. Ellie and David have a sweet kitty (the size of a dog!) named Rocky, and we already can't wait to take their family photos next year!
